2026.08.2612:30:00UTC+00U.S. Core Durable Goods Orders Growth Cools to 0.4% in July, Easing from June Surge

U.S. Core Durable Goods Orders growth slowed in July 2026, rising 0.4% month-over-month after a stronger 1.1% gain in June, according to data updated on 26 August 2026. The indicator tracks business investment in long-lasting manufactured goods excluding volatile transportation items, and is closely watched as a gauge of underlying demand and capital spending.

The moderation from June’s robust pace suggests that while investment activity remains positive, momentum in core manufacturing demand has eased. On a month-over-month basis, the July figure reflects a smaller expansion in orders compared with the prior month’s performance, which itself was measured against May 2026.

Investors and analysts will be assessing whether July’s softer print signals a temporary pause after June’s strength or the beginning of a more sustained cooling in business spending. With core orders still in positive territory, the data imply continued, but more measured, support for U.S. economic growth heading into the later part of 2026.
